About RSAC

We are an active and friendly SCUBA diving club, made up of members from the Rickmansworth, Herts, and surrounding areas. We are not a large club but we are well equipped with our own 5.3m RIB and minibus and 6 sets of diving equipment available for training purposes.

The club is very sociable and we meet on a Thursday evening at 9:00pm at the swimming pool in Rickmansworth School, Scots Hill, Rickmansworth.

Most of our diving takes place off the south coast, but we also have an annual diving trip to Ireland. The divers within the club vary greatly in their experience and interests, some are undertaking basic dive training while others are pushing the limits of extended range diving, incorporating mixed gases & advanced techniques. The Club runs many courses throughout the year.

We welcome non-BSAC divers into our club and do not necessarily insist on a 'cross-over' course.

RSAC is one of about 2500 branches of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC), and as such our training and club diving activities are conducted within the guidelines, rules and framework of the BSAC which has proved, over many years, to be effective, safe and well matched to diving in UK waters. All members of RSAC are also members of the BSAC, which means we are in good company with around 45,000 other members.

Thursday night is Club night!

The classroom and the swimming pool are hired from Rickmansworth School on Thursday nights.  Members and their guests are able to use the pool for swimming, snorkelling, octopush and dive training.  We pride ourselves in being a family club and children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.  A small fee is payable by each person to offset the cost of the pool hire.

Club Boat

The club owns a Tornado 5.3m Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) named 'Seaspray' which is fitted with a 90hp Yamaha 'Hi-Tech' two stroke engine.  These together with the Rollacoster trailer were all purchased by the club in 1997.

The boat is fully equipped with oxygen administration equipment, a first aid kit, an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and emergency flares.  Seaspray is also fitted with a combined echo sounder, Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation unit and a stainless steel bottle rack for securing the diving cylinder sets.  For communication with the Coastguard and other vessels we have a fixed VHF radio together with a fully waterproof handheld VHF radio.

Club Equipment

The club owns a number of full sets of dive equipment which members can hire for a small charge until they decide whether diving is for them.

The only equipment you will be required to buy as a trainee are fins, mask and snorkel these are things that are personal to the individual.
